…his ability to cook that is…
because we know darn well, just based on the meltdown, that he did not get this from me…
There are many things that I say he gets from his dad… normally, they are the qualities that are less than desirable, but I have to honestly say that his father was a whiz in the kitchen…he’s the type of guy that could look at a bare cupboard (because we were too poor to go get groceries) and throw something together that was phenomenal…so Matthew MUST get this ability from his father…
Either that or it skipped a generation…
Tonight, Matthew wanted to cook (he typically does cook once a week when he’s not involved in sports…)
I suggested pork chops (shake and bake…)
OH!!!!!
Speaking of shake and bake…check out this little video of Samara from awhile back…
Back to Matthew….
I suggested Shake ‘n Bake and he goes, “why don’t we grill them?”
Well, Matthew… I wanted to say…
Mommy doesn’t do well with fire or the grill and while we have charcoal it’s not the kind that’s presoaked with the lighter fluid and I know that they won’t taste like Papaw’s…
But his face… I wish you could’ve seen it…
“We’ll try Bud” and he was just oh so happy…
Well… you’d be proud… we got the grill going….
(excuse my porch…the wind blew the boards over and then there’s the carpet that I’m scraping off the porch because it was just nasty)
And Matthew manned it…
and while he was waiting to flip them…he was reading (he has to read 400 minutes for the free baseball ticket and this child has REALLY been reading up a storm here of late!)
And then there’s Sam… she was talking to my mom
And would you look at those chops!!!!!
And you know what, they weren’t JUST like my dad’s (which is my all time FAVORITE meal…) but they were darn near close! Way to go Bud!
Until next time…
Heather
