I sit alone at church often…

… and when I say alone, I mean that I’m not sitting next to a friend, the kids, etc.

Every weekend that they are with their father, I sit alone but when I take them to church, I normally have one on each side of me…

…that was until last weekend.

We arrived at church together but then all went our separate ways. Well, I didn’t. I sat where we always sit — somewhere near the back so that if one of them acts up I can yank them out back and whop ‘em.

But Matthew asked if he could sit with his friend and Samara did the same. After many threats and the pointing of the motherly finger… come on, you KNOW what I’m talking about… off they went and there I sat. Alone.

They aren’t babies anymore.

I’m starting to not be the coolest thing… (although, Matthew came right over to me during the peace to give me a hug and a kiss…)

For the most part, they were WONDERFUL… except when the Pastor said that we were singing “Let It Rise” and Matthew exclaimed (outloud) that it was his favorite song.

Had he been sitting next to me I would’ve whopped him….

I was mortified. I was convinced that I would never allow him to sit anywhere but right next to me again….

That’s when Doris leaned over and said “there are no formalities here…just a love for Jesus.”

I guess there are worse things my kid could’ve exclaimed from the back of the church…. :)

(and I thank God that he didn’t…. )

Until next time…

I seriously can’t believe you’d smack Matthew for that — there are a ton, and I mean ton, of worse things he could’ve said. It’s absolutely awesome to see the spiritual growth not only in you but also your children :) Thanks for sharing!

I think it was more that in the church I was raised in there was silence… and you would NEVER blurt out anything… :)

And, there’s lots of growth around the Jacobson household… it is kinda cool ;)

A child’s heart speaking through his mouth. I’m sure everyone thought it was cute. ;-) Although, I also was taught to be still and quiet in God’s House.

Blessing to you!

“to be still and quiet in God’s House.” Sometimes I love to be still and quiet.
However, recently we were singing the song that says, “I am free to dance, I am free to live for You…” And I had a great desire do DANCE right there in church. But I didn’t feel “free” to do it! How backwards is that???
I think it’s great your little guy let his heart speak!
