Boy am I Thankful This Thursday…

in Thankful Thursdays

You’re in for a wild blessing filled post this week… (I’m so excited to share all that I am thankful for that it’s Wednesday night!)

  • I am thankful for my car breaking down on Friday (and Saturday) because it reminded me that prayer goes a long way. It reminded me that there are still good people out there. It helped me to take another step toward living a life that isn’t so fear filled.
  • I am thankful for my dad. Even though our relationship isn’t great, and it’s pretty much all my fault, when I called him in distress, he took my call and helped me to the best of his ability — even though he was 5 hours away. And I’m thankful that he is honest with me and isn’t scared to point out my downfalls… ALL of them.. but in an effort to make me a better person.
  • I’m thankful for my mom. For no particular reason other than there’s something about calling mom that makes things just a little bit better.
  • I’m thankful that the church called upon me to ask for help — it made me feel like I was part of the family.
  • I’m thankful for Christa, who, after rescuing me and the kidlets Saturday, chauffeured me around and made sure that all my stuff got done… and for her parents who took the kids and I in like we were part of the family.
  • Oh so thankful for Tom who fixed my car… and saved me some cash… lots of cash…
  • I am thankful for the people at my church who gave me rides when I needed them… and tonight when someone asked if I had family around here and I said no, they replied with “you have us” – and how absolutely amazing is that?
  • I’m thankful that when all was said and done, I found the $40 to go to the Whole Woman’s Day conference in Durham with Lisa….
  • I’m thankful for the leap of faith I took in tithing and the immediate blessings that followed.
  • I’m thankful for my children and the interest that they have taken in God and the word of the Lord. It makes me smile that they will give up American Idol for a reading from their Bible Story Book
  • and here’s the biggie… here’s what I’ve been thinking about all night… I am thankful that Jesus died for me. For me! I can’t get over this. I sound like a kid, but it’s been a long time since I revisited the night before Jesus was crucified. He did that for me… and for you, too, but for me. WOW.
  • Oh and thanks to Pastor Man for the “obviousness” that I needed to go to church tonight. How truly, truly amazing. I’m so glad that I was there.
  • Oh, I’m sure that there are many, many more things that I can be thankful for, but I think that’s enough… I’m pumped about writing it. It was a week filled with trials, triumphs, and more blessings than I can count. But seriously, if He did what He did for me… if He suffered up there and went through the beatings, betrayal, and people spitting on Him for me, surely I can sit on the side of the road for a little bit because my car is broke down.

It all goes back to God won’t lead you to anything He can’t lead you through… I just need to have a little faith….

    What are you thankful for?

    Until next time…

    Heather

Heather, I’m just so thankful for you. Father, thank You so much for how you’ve blessed my sister this week. I ask for continued blessing from Heaven to rain down on her in unexpected and surprising ways…the kinds that make us pause and catch our breath and whisper Your name in awestruck praise. Flood her with light and joy and peace that passes all understanding. And, if You wouldn’t mind, would You do the same for me??
In Jesus’ name, amen.

I believe that incidents happen to give others opportunities to serve. How many people were blessed by your car problems!
