It’s time to build a bridge…

…and get over it….

I’ve tried…

I really have…

But here’s the skinny…

I’m a Celiac…which means that I can’t have wheat and gluten…

it also means that it’s very difficult to find things that are not yucky… and while the industry of wheat/gluten free is getting better, these English muffin’s are NOT Thomas’….

anywho….

these English muffins are good though, for being wheat free, and I was so excited when I bought them and they were good… but the downfall is that they are $6.25 for 4 of them…and I’m cheap…

but they are worth it…

seriously…it’s the closest thing that I’ve come to real bread… ever.

The bonus? They have a 6 month shelf life… not that it takes me that long…I’ve grown accustomed to one every morning…

including THIS morning…

Saturday, I did my spring cleaning in the kitchen…when I did, I rearranged the small appliances and my toaster is now next to my washing machine… I love the new layout… I have a small kitchen and this is by far what has given me the most room (because I am not a “store the toaster and the can opener in the cabinet until you need it” kinda gal…)

I shipped the kids out the door…

i get my English muffin out of the fridge…

I slice it…

I carefully place a fragile half in each side of the toaster…

I depress the lever and I see the red burn bright… toasting my new found, tiny piece of gluten free heaven in the morning…

As I wait, I pour my coffee…

They pop up… however, because they aren’t quite as tall as normal bread in the toaster so there’s nothing to grab…

so as to not burn my fingers, I take a fork and gouge in there to get it, but you have to be careful, because the warm English muffin is more fragile than the cold one…

I get one half on my paper towel and lather it with butter… and when I go to gouge the second half, I raise my arm, the English muffin flips off the end of the fork, and I watch it, slow-mo style… fall….

…behind my washing machine…

78 cents worth of my happiness in the morning… gone…

because I can’t reach it… and to get it, I have to move not only the washing machine, but the fridge to get to the washing machine…

I guess the mice that have escaped me will now have something to nibble on….

and I’m out 78 cents…

and I’m saddened…

so really, I’ll just build my bridge and get over it…

…slowly….

as soon as I move the toaster back to where it was…

Until next time…

Heather

PS. I am excited about the weigh-in tomorrow… I feel like I’m lighter, but we’ll just have to see.. I feel better, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be happy even if the pounds aren’t melting away… :)

Now I’m afraid to make my gluten free english muffins. What if I drop mine? I feel your pain for the 78 cents. ;)
