It’s almost 1am.
It’s a Saturday night.
And where was I hanging out tonight?
Church.
And I had more fun with them then I ever could’ve had in a bar or dance club.
Don’t get me wrong, I love to dance. But the work that I was doing, and the people that I was doing it with were a blessing.
Anchor Man (this is our church intern for the summer. I told him he could pick his name and he wants to be an anchor when he graduates from SWU) and I spent the evening trying to edit movies that he took with the new church camcorder while Pastor Man installed the new projector.
The folks from the mission team were helping to clean up and we laughed and laughed and laughed. While Anchor Man and I didn’t get the movie the way that we wanted it in time for the service in the morning, we made it work…together. We determined that by the end of the summer, the congregation would see the improvements that we made and what we learned with the new toy missions tool that we got yesterday.
While working on the video there was a little clip by Pastor Man thanking me for all that I had done and how grateful he was that I was housing part of the team and helping out with meals. I was touched. A thank you goes a long way with me. (So does telling me that I’m an expert and that I rock!)
The missions team is here and they are a huge blessing. Today, they canvassed over 300 homes inviting kids to Vacation Bible School. Our goal is 1000 this week and I know that they will make it happen. The gals that are staying with me are just as sweet as sweet can be.
Deena over at Wholly Devoted also nominated me for the Rockin’ Girl Blogger Award. More to come on that later…
My best friend called tonight to tell me that she found someone who would put the rest of the siding on my house for me and not rake me over the coals.
Add these few things to the lawn that was mowed in my absence and being able to see my kids Wednesday night and I’m near overwhelmed.
It’s easy for me to stray when I’m traveling… stray from the Word and get caught in the World. I did great the first week, but in subsequent weeks I’ve strayed…I’m the kinda gal that if the church is open, I’m there. I’m there Wednesday morning for Bible Study, Wednesday night for Prayer meetings, and then both Sunday morning and evening… add in there all the time that I spend with my church friends and I’m safe in my little church world. In addition to my local church friends, I’ve got a great support system of Christian friends online and through the phone. But my traveling and the time zones make it difficult to keep in touch.
Since my traveling started, I’ve made it to church on Sunday mornings only and while my friends are all great at calling and keeping in touch, sometimes it’s easy to fall in with the way of the world.
I am so grateful for all of these blessings and the ability to be around great people while I’m home this week. I’ve got one more trip and then I’m home for a month before I have to head back out. I feel like I’m refueling and it’s much needed.
I love how God knows what I need when even I don’t know.
Until next time…
a very blessed Heather
