Blagged.. TWICE!

I’ve been blagged…. once by Nell and then by Jen…

I’m not feeling very original today, so I’ll stick with the 8 Jobs that I’ve held in my life.…

• Snack bar attendant at Walnut Lane Golf Course… this would be the first job that I fell into…I was grounded indefinitely (and to be honest, I don’t remember what I had done)… my baby bro wanted to get a job as a Caddy… and my parents wouldn’t let him go look for one by himself (he was 12) so we took SEPTA (the mass transit in Philly) all over God’s creation looking for him a caddy job… at the last place we stopped had an opening for the snack bar attendant and I applied.. on a whim… my dad took me after church that Sunday for an interview and I was hired… at the ripe old age of 14… it took me almost 2 hours to get there and get home but my dad and brother could golf for free and I made minimum wage plus tips… dad came up to pick me up on the first day and he let me off grounding… and for the record, my brother never did get a caddy job… when i hooked him up with free golf, he didn’t need to earn money to play anymore…
• Front line at Hardees… when we moved back to Virginia from Philly… i soon realized that i needed to learn to drive…and that required money to put gas in my car… so i stopped one day after school and got a job at Hardee’s… i figured if i HAD to work at a fast food joint, Hardee’s was the lesser of all the evils… so there it was… for 4 months… when i got a better job…
• Tweeds… Roanoke could also be called the Catalog City of the south… Tweeds was one of the call centers that was here (Tweeds is gone and HSN is now in that building…. and I worked for them as an order taker… i forget what my official title was… but I loved that job and worked there until I went off to college….
• Cashier at Kroger…. when I drunked dropped out of college I moved in with my parents in NC and got a job at the local Kroger… I had no car and it was really all that was within walking distance… I’ll never forget… I had a button that said “I’m new and improving”… it was embarrassing….
• Waitress… I’ve actually done this at quite a few places… including The Spaghetti Warehouse, Applebee’s and Charcoal Steak house… I actually liked it… I waited tables the entire time I was preggo with Matthew and up until my due date.. then I played hostess until he was born.. it was nice waiting tables when I was preggo because no one would let me carry anything… and my bus boys took good care of me…
• Product Specialist at Orvis… here again, a catalog company in the ‘Noke… I started out taking orders and then moved into customer service and then the product specialist… that’s the person that actually pulls the items from the warehouse if a customer asks a question that is not located in the catalog or documented in the system… after that I moved to the monogramming and alterations department… i was good at making dog collars but not hemming pants… and it was a bad time in my life… and the only job that i was ever fired from….
• Managerial Secretary...this was my first paying position in TV… basically, I was an assistant to all the department heads… so i learned my way around a TV station… I did that for 2.5 years and then was promoted to the sales department… i was going to school during this whole time…and fell in love with TV….
• Research Director… this is what I’ve been doing the last 6 years of my life at various stations… I moved up after college… I’ve been in the ‘noke, Richmond and now virtually for 8 stations across the US… I love it..

there are other jobs that I’ve had… i’ve learned alot over the past 16 years of my working life….

And like I said, I’m not feeling very creative and original today so I Blag… you!
