I probably shouldn’t even come close to calling my daughter four eyes.. I’m sure that if that ever happens then she’ll stop thinking the glasses are cool…and thankfully, no one ever called me that, to my face at least, and with her being Miss Popular, I can only imagine that now all the third grade girls will want glasses…
After I left the game (where we kicked major Cougar bootie in true Titan style) I came home to veg. Working in the yard wasn’t happening because it’s too stinking HOT (hello? October? Where are you? And why is it supposed to be 90 on Monday… cool crisp breeze, leaves changing… you know what October is supposed to be like?)
Anywho, I came home and was catching up on blogs and the phone rang. It was the Vision Center… her glasses were in… early.
Then her Dad called to let me know that she forgot her sweatshirt at the game and then when he went back to get it, one of the other girls had forgotten hers, so he had it.
I asked him what he thought about getting her glasses today. We decided that it would probably be better if we got them today and let her get used to them over the weekend as opposed to just sending her off to school with them, so he met me at Wal-Mart.
After waiting for the 4,000 other people there to pick up glasses… it was her turn. She tried them on and of course half the store had to ooh and aah over her while the little guy adjusted them. Then she wanted a case. Not the standard black case (which I told her she could decorate with stickers and the like) but the purple case that looked like a little purse. It was $8 and I told her no. She went to put it back and her Dad handed me $10 and said she could get it. So she did.
And then she was even more happy.
After going over the rules with her about them and telling her dad (a non-glasses wearer) the effects they might have on her today and how to handle) I kissed them both goodbye again and went to finish my shopping…
So with out further adieu… I present Samara…now with glasses…
I think she’s even more gorgeous with them… (and yes, I know she needs a haircut!)
Until next time…
Heather

She looks great in them!!
My daughter (8) became a glasses wearer just a couple of months ago too! It’s great that it’s a pretty cool thing now (to have glasses) but a lot of that credit is due to the style of glasses. When I (We) were little, there weren’t many cute kinds. (were there any?) but now the glasses actually accent/highlight their features!
you daughter looks beautiful!
She looks SO cute!!
She looks great!
I hope you do something fun with the extra $2 from Dad. You did get to keep it, didn’t you???
Just about everyone in my middle school had glasses but once we got in high school we all switched to contacts.
oh she looks so cute! and ummmm…. you know she looks older too right? my daughter has fabulous red frames and she looks oh so sophisticated. glad she likes them!
She looks great! They’ve really come a long way in giving a better selection than when I was a kid.
She looks AWESOME in those glasses
She looks adorable! It’s funny how glasses are actually kind of the cool thing now. Like Misty said… they are a lot better looking these days. The ugly green framed ones I had as a child did NOT make me look cool. LOL But my daughter got to wear very cute pink framed ones when she was little.
She wears contacts now that she is in high school, but sometimes she still wears her now blue framed glasses just for fun, to look “sophisticated”.
Aww! Cutie pie!
My son got his glasses at age 6.
This brings back memories of my first pair of glasses. She looks really cute in them!
They look great! Anna Marie was a little upset at first to get glasses, but her first pair had butterflies on the side, and when she got to show those to everyone, it made things MUCH better!
Very sophisticated! She does look great in glasses.
