Slippery When Wet…

It wouldn’t be a trip out of town with out me doing something totally embarrassing…

although, it will take quite a bit to top my Marvin the Mobster story…

However, today was funny… and really, it could’ve been a lot worse…

Now, let me state that I love the solitude of the hotel. It’s quiet, and I’ve gotten quite a bit of work done in the evenings when I’ve come back to the room. However, I do get a little stir crazy when I’m staring at the same stuff. The view is nice, but I like to get out and walk around.

This morning, I was all ready to head into the office and I had some time before I needed to leave. I printed something on the printer downstairs in the business center and when I went down to print it, there was a small line. I decided to step out the side door and wait and enjoy the fresh air.

It had been raining over night, so obviously, my shoes were wet when I came back in the door.

As I stepped inside the door, I slipped and I totally wiped out. Both knees hit the ground and I’m sure I made some sort of loud crash.

Luckily, no one was around, so no one witnessed it. But I? Started laughing… my immediate thought was “they need to put a rug here” followed shortly by, “I can’t wait to blog about this.”

However, when I got to the office, things were hopping and I was busy so I never got the chance to.

I did share my little story with the other visitor who is at the stations this week and as we walked back in the hotel tonight she said, “walk carefully.” We laughed. It was funny. We’ve had quite a good time while we’ve been here laughing and joking and making fun of one another.

I sat up here in the hotel room from 6 until about 8 and I got a little antsy. I needed to print something else, so I decided to do that and venture downstairs again.

Again, I walked outside while I waited for it to print. There’s a little man made pond behind the hotel with a fountain and pedestrian bridge and it’s a beautiful sight (when it’s not overcast and drizzly) but I walked out there to see it and just get some fresh air while I waited.

When I went to come back in, my key would not open the door. The little light turned green but the door would not open.

(Let me point out that I am in my PJs at this point in time… and my flip flops…)

Two gentlemen that had just arrived see me struggle with the door and come and open it for me. I step inside and forget to walk carefully… and I wiped out… again.

After a slew of “are you okays?” from the two hotties who had just come to my rescue, I laugh and assure them that I am okay.

And then as we get on the elevator, I burst into a fit of laughter.

They looked at me like I was nuts (which I am) and eventually, by the time we got to my floor… they were laughing too.

And I chuckled all the way down the hall to my room…

Luckily, I wasn’t hurt badly… and I did tell the front desk that they REALLY need a rug there. And later, when I went down to print something, I stayed inside — and it was much safer that way.

Until next time…

Heather

PS. I didn’t win the stun guns.. that’s probably a good thing.. because really? what was I going to do with stun guns?

Ok, the fact that you wiped out not once — but twice — and the second time in your PJs? That’s *so* Heather! :-D

Stun guns — maybe Sam and Matt would start acting right all the time ;-) And I bet Pastor Man might think twice about pointing out any more typos!

That’s what I love about you…you can laugh about it, rather than do what I do…but I’m learning to just laugh…

With all the traveling you do, sure hope you pack something good to read:-)

And the moral of the story is…Fresh air may be hazardous to your health!

I’m so embarrased for you – I’ve fallen down more times than I care to admit!

And, I’ve always wanted to stay in a hotel by myself. I crave solitude, and I think that would just be the coolest!

Oh, and one more thing – I got my Senseo! Thanks so much – my mom is getting one too! I love mine!

Oh that cracks me up! And are you sure we weren’t like seperated at birth or something? You wiped out twice on the 25th and I wiped out (in a huge mud puddle mind you!!!) once on Saturday the 27th. We have way too many things in common :-)
