A short (no seriously, I promise) background on the pictures in this post…

Rhoda killed a rabbit yesterday. The kids decided to dispose of the rabbit for me, because they love me, and really, it’s just a little bit bigger than a mouse.

These pictures capture the events that took place on the afternoon of April 17, 2008.

So, Sam… think it’s going to fit in that shoe box?

100_2916.JPG

I got it in the bag, Matt… but it needs to go in the Amazon box.

100_2917.JPG

Rhoda! Get away, you’ve already done enough damage.

100_2918.JPG

Come on, Matt… we need to find the perfect place to bury Buddy.

100_2920.JPG

Sam, be respectful. Don’t be so loud. Funerals aren’t loud… unless people are crying loud.

100_2922.JPG

Let’s find the perfect spot, Matt. Then we can bury all dead mice, too. We’ll have a little animal cemetery for all the animals Mom and Rhoda kill.

100_2923.JPG

No… here. This looks like the perfect spot.

100_2926.JPG

Ok, I ‘ll start digging.

100_2927.JPG

You work on that Matt and call me when you’re done. I’m going to watch Hannah Montanna.

100_2928.JPG

This is going to take awhile.

100_2929.JPG

With all this rain we’ve had, the ground sure is hard and dry.

100_2930.JPG

Hey Matt! If we try and put it in this shoe box, you won’t have to dig as big of a hole.

100_2931.JPG

I’ll get Buddy ready for transfer.

100_2932.JPG

Yup! He’s still in there!

100_2933.JPG

I’m glad this bag has handles.

100_2934.JPG

Let’s see if we can make this work.

100_2936.JPG

Matt… he fits, but his legs keep sticking out. Can you help me?

100_2937.JPG

There we go! What a nice coffin for Buddy.

100_2938.JPG

Oh man! His legs popped out again.

100_2939.JPG

I don’t think this is working Matthew.

100_2940.JPG

Forget the coffin. We’ll just bury him in the body bag.

100_2941.JPG

Ok, I’ll finish getting the grave ready. You go make the tombstone.

100_2948.JPG

Man it’s hot out here.

100_2949.JPG

Must. Keep. Digging.

100_2954.JPG

This is taking forever.

100_2955.JPG

Are you done yet, Matthew? It’s a commercial.

100_2956.JPG

Nope, not quite big enough Matt… just a little bit more.

100_2959.JPG

I finished the tombstone.

100_2964.JPG

Heavenly Father, thank you for the time that Buddy had here on earth. Please watch over him in Heaven… that is if he went to Heaven. He might have been a bad bunny, but we’re sorry that Rhoda killed him. Please help Rhoda to stop killing animals in the future. In your precious name I pray. Amen.
100_2968.JPG

I’m just going to clean this up a little bit and make it nice for Buddy.

100_2965.JPG

Hey Matt!  Did you that know that RIP means Rest In Peace?  Becki thought it meant Remember if Possible.

100_2970.JPG

Com on Matt! We’re missing Charmed!

Wow; that’s a lot of work for a bunny. I hope he doesn’t kill anything bigger!

I loved these pictures and their captions! Next week, I’ll post another Name That Photo contest — you should enter! What a gift. hey — you want to help me make my scrapbooks entertaining? They are dreadfully dull: “and here we see Josh.” You get the idea.

I’m sorry about Buddy bunny. It’s very hard when our fur babies pass away.

So, are you going to try the shoo-fly pie? I think you should — and then you should invite me over so I can eat it all up for you. I’ll even do the dishes. You’d better bake two — just in case. LOL! I also posted a recipe for Tears on Your Pillow Pie — and as a PA native — you will LOVE it. Another favorite: Montgomery Pie. Have yo had it before?

What part of Virginia are you in? I lived in Bridgewater (south of Harrisonburg off of route 11).

Blessings!
Lacy

Oh, my gosh. I laughed so hard at this. “Remember If Possible” sent me right over the edge. Great post! I’m so glad I found your blog today. -Julia :-)

Yes, I really did think it meant “Remember if Possible”…I think I was 25 when I found out it really meant “Rest in Peace”. How said is that? I’m not that stupid… :)

Oh, please, oh please, oh please – tell me it’s OK to laugh – even if this is a funeral post! Sam trying to put that bunny in the smaller box, only to have his legs keep popping out was just too funny.

(Sorry, I meant too sad.)

See what I mean?

I don’t mean to laugh because we all know that funerals aren’t a laughing matter but the pictures made me giggle. Oh wait maybe it wasn’t the pictures so much as it was the captions under them. LOL
