Anyone who knows me knows that I am not the most girly in the world. Up until a few weeks ago, I was still wearing my make up (and by make up, I mean brown eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss) the same way I was when I was 18.
Beauty stuff intimidates me.
There I said it.
Fashion does too, but that’s a post for another time.
And I once had a boyfriend beg me to be a little more girly… bought me all kinds of smelly stuff and would suggest things, but I just didn’t “get it”.
I’ve had friends drag me to Sephora (when I lived near one) and try on all kinds of goop for my face… and I just felt so weird.
Over time, I’ve hated feeling like a “mom”. There’s nothing wrong with being a mom, but let’s face it… I’m not getting any younger and just because I am a mom doesn’t mean I have to be all frumpy, right?
Someone did say right, right?
Besides, I’m on the market. I’m not going to catch the eye of some unsuspecting rich young gentleman looking if I don’t put a little effort into myself. (Which totally sucks, but whatever…)
So, when my blogging buddy Jo-Lynne told me about her idea for her new site which basically would bring fashion and beauty tips for moms around the blogosphere, I thought to myself, “that’s nice… for someone else.”
I wasn’t even going to subscribe to her feed, but she’s my blogging buddy and all, and I wanted to be supportive.
I’m hooked.
I’ve bought SEVERAL items that were recommended. I’m dying to review something of my own, but that would require me to actually know something to purchase on my own that no one else has recommended yet. I’m still working on it.
So, head over to Chic Critique and pick up some great advice on what to try and what to steer clear of and by all means, give that woman a reason to go to Sephora.
Until next time…

I know what you mean. I think I am wearing make-up when I put mascara on and sometimes lipstick. I have tried several of the reviewed products on Chic Critique. The best review/recommendation has been The Skin Type Solution book(I think that’s the name). I got it from the library, read it several times and have been following the guidelines for my skin type. I am actually seeing improvement. Now I am considering a trip to Sephora.

Hey girl, thanks for the mention! I’m so glad you like it. See, THIS was my vision — to appeal to those who would not typically seek out beauty sites, just a blog by regular women for regular women. Your testimonial means SO much!
And I’d love to have you as a guest blogger. Let me know!
