So, if you’re just now finding my blog amongst all the other crazed mom (and dad) bloggers who are losing sleep, depriving their children, ignoring their husbands, missing out on the first week of sweeps and the return of Grey’s Anatomy in an effort to enter every contest listed here, welcome. 
You have some catching up to do. Nestled among the rants and raves of the week are four other giveaway posts that I’m sure you’ll want to enter, because the more you enter, the better chances you have at winning, right?
But today prize is the biggie (at least I think so)… it’s a high ticket item, but if you’re not in the market for it, then you probably don’t need it… (well if that wasn’t the most profound statement of the year, I don’t know what is… duh!)
But moving on, maybe you’re a new blogger and just don’t know what to do about all this stuff… or maybe you have a blogger blog, or wordpress.com blog or even a typepad blog that you don’t want to pay for anymore.
Regardless, if you’re looking to either start or move your blog, this is for you.
Included in this package is:
- Domain registration for 1 year. (Domain name after that will be approx. $9.95 a year)
- Assistance in choosing and purchasing the domain name
- 1 Year of free hosting (hosting after that will be $15 a year)
- Installation of Wordpress on your domain name
- Installation and help choosing a theme for your new blog (this is NOT a custom design… if you’re looking for a custom design, I can point you in the direction… if you have a custom header already done, I CAN incorporate that into the theme)
- Installation of 10 plugins of your choice
- 2 hours of Q&A/training for your new blog (i wouldn’t just feed ya to the wolves ya know?)
- Transfer of posts from blogger or typepad to the new blog
If I were still running my business and offered this package to a client, I would charge them $400. There are some more nitty gritty details that I’ll have to go over with the winner, but they aren’t that hard.

I’ll tell you why I’m an avid WP fan…
- it’s mine. Period. If blogger or typepad go belly up, you’re going to lose all your stuff. You don’t control it, and yes, I’m a control freak.
- You can do much much more with it. Seriously. There are so many cool things you can do that you just can’t do with blogger or the WP.com versions…
- It’s so easy… not only is there more power with WP, but it’s so simple to use. My 11 year old has been using it since he was 9. And he’s fine with it.
- With the exception of the domain name and hosting (about $25 a year) it’s free. Free is good

I have a free WordPress.com blog… and ya know, I’m just totally conflicted about it. I used to blog at Blogger, and while I loved a few things (customizable enough that I had a decent design going, ads were allowed), I hated other things – the visual editor was a crutch for me, and I felt like a “real” blogger should move beyond Blogger. So I switched to wp.com — I love the platform. Hands down. LOVE it. But I hate that I can only choose between a few dozen themes (I know there are more than that, but I’m a stickler about at LEAST having my own header, you know?) and I can’t edit a bit of the CSS (not that I know HOW, but it irks me that I’m not even allowed to try it!) and I HATE, hate, hate that I can do ads. I mean, I’d like to self-host, etc – but I need a little bloggy income to make that happen. Can’t get bloggy income if I can’t have ads, which brings me back to where I started. I’m in a wordpress.com catch-22! And YOU can save me!!!!

The thing I hate about my current blog…livejournal is really nitpicky. I would LOVE to have my own domain and be able to post things and have the blog look the way I want it to look…livejournal is really limiting. I started with livejournal because that is where my sister blogged and I did like it at first. But I didn’t think I had enough readers to justify having my own domain, etc. However, i am learning that because it is so hard to leave a comment on livejournal, I had more than i thought! so, this would be a GREAT prize to win!
I would say that I don’t like that blogger won’t let me schedule posts in advance, but that appears to be changing. I don’t like how the comments are set up in blogger, though.

I’ve been wanting to do this for ages. I only started with Blogspot because everyone I knew had Blogspot, I wasn’t aware of other platforms. It quickly became obvious that Blogspot was very limited.
My SIL is a webmaster, and she purchased the domain name for me and said she’d help me set it up. This was last November. Then she got promoted, and doesn’t have time to take it any further. So I’ve been stuck, unable to do anything.
I am always drooling over everyone’s plug-ins and the seemingly limitless things they can do with their blogs, and the increased traffic that comes with having your own URL. I want!

I have been wanting to start a “real” blog for a long time. I currently have a blog at a community called Savings Advice. They are a wonderful group, but it is a financial blog and it is about just that, not really your family or your Lord, just finances. Plus, you can’t do cool stuff like have a giveaway! I’m on blogger and what I hate about it is that if it fails I could lose my whole blog (500+ posts)!
I just don’t like the design. And sometimes I have a hard time finding my voice. I picked a name that suited the whole familiy, but since the blog has been “mine” and not “ours”, maybe its time for a change!

Oh I desperately need this! I just bought my domain name but my blog is brand new (only 1 month) and I have been trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I didn’t know better, so I signed up for blogger, and now I’m hearing that WP is much better. I could really really use the help! I hate that in blogger, even if I write a blog tonight that I want to post tomorrow, it shows up tonight anyway, just dated tomorrow. And I hate that I can’t move my pictures to where I want in the post. And I hate the limited fonts. And I hate that I can’t design my layout — that I just have to live with the layout that they give me, and I am wasting all kids of space that I would like to use. Oh oh oh how I need this!
