Let me first say that I am NOT passing judgment on the parental figures in this video…. but as I watched this, my mouth HUNG open
I don’t think the grandma would go to jail for beating his butt. I’d beat his butt. I think that’s a problem with the litigious society that we live in. We’re AFRAID to discipline our children… at least, there are times that I am. Let me assure you, my parents had NO problem spanking me in the middle of the store. It was enough to make me think twice about whatever it was I was contemplating doing.
And maybe? If he were disciplined a little more, the idea of STEALING HIS GRANDMA’S SUV would’ve never crossed his mind? Of course, I know plenty of children who are disciplined and they still go and do stupid stuff.
But I think what got me the most was that there was no remorse. It’s as if he didn’t even consider there to be a problem with what he did. He just did it and responded with “Sometimes it’s fun to do the bad stuff…”
Well, no duh.
BUT YOU DON’T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!! And if you do, at least ACT like you’re sorry.
I’m sure there’s more to the story than was shared on that little clip. It’s obvious that he’s probably been bounced around. He makes mention of his mother helping his grandma pay for the damages but the grandma has custody.
He’s lucky he wasn’t killed or that he didn’t kill someone else.
There are days that I wonder what this world is coming too… especially when he states that the proper punishment for this is simply losing his video games.
:: sigh ::
Until next time…

Okay I can understand the merit of spanking in this situation-but this situation stemmed from a lack of ANY disipline throughout his life. I think throwing away the video games-not just a weekend without them. Sounds like a 7 year old playing inapproraite Grand theft auto maybe???

Oh wow…I was struck too at how he thought it was no big deal!! Yeah, I see a lack of discipline.

Wow. Unbelievable. I can’t believe the kid said “Its fun to do bad things” and when the officer asked him if he realized he could kill someone like that he just said “Yeah but I just wanted to do hood rat stuff with my friend.”
I totally agree with you, Heather. If I’d done something like that, my dad would have tore my butt up. Losing video games for a weekend just doesn’t cut it.

I read somewhere that a few weeks after that event happened, the police were called because he had been hitting his grandmother. There is obviously something wrong there…which reminded me of the scriptures in the Bible that talk about lawlessness in the Last Days.

What breaks my heart is that this 7 year-old baby seems to have no conscience. Unfortunately, I see this more and more in students today – younger and younger.
wow… unbelievable! Sadly i see this more in young kids these days.
This just makes me sad. He’s the same age as my daughter. I wish he was my kid so I could get him the help and stability and discipline he needs…
Wow! He thought it would be fun? There is definitely something wrong in this child’s life!

He needs a severe whupping! If that were me, no wait, that would never have been me because I never would have thought something like that was OK!
This family needs help. That boy and his “hood rat” friends are headed down a dangerous road. It’s really quite sad.

If he’s like this when he is 7 what is he gonna be like when he is 17!!??? I can’t believe that grandmother didn’t just “whip his butt”, right then and there!! It would have taken more constrant than I have….not to do it! The child needs help, and not just in the “juvenile detention” system…..

It would be funny if it weren’t so horrifying. I feel sad knowing that if something doesn’t change, that boy’s future will be sad.

That boy wouldn’t be sitting for a week if I had anything to say about it! I agree, what will he be like when he’s 17?!?!?
I pray every day that God will help me teach my daughter right from wrong, and that she’ll have such a deep love for God that even if her friends try to persuade her to do something wrong, she’ll know better.
