Please welcome Kelsey from My Sweet Life…
We were at the park and I overheard a mother talking to another women about how gifted her little Jimmy is. She went on and on about how Jimmy can count, write his name and get this pee in the potty. Yes these are signs of a true gifted child. I looked up to see Jimmy on the playground he was trying to climb up the slide but right when he hit the top he fell down and landed on his butt which lead to mass amounts of hysteria because his butt was dirty. Yup poor Jimmys butt was dirty! Call int he coast guard this could be bad.
This made me chuckle because well Dennis can count- but he skips the letter 7 he says that he is a murder* and the counting goes all the way up to well 8. He can write their name- not legibly but he says its his name so we believe him. He can even pee- I know shocking but hes been doing it pretty well for 4 years. But you know what else he can do? Climb up a slide in socks. I know I know he must be a prodigy or something. What you don’t believe that he could be a prodigy? I can show you:
“Dennis you are so silly sometimes” I joked.
“NO I AM NOT! I am NOT silly! I AM TURKISH AMERICAN DENNIS! NOT SILLY!” He screamed
Well I think he is ready for Yale we will just leave off the fact that he is now running around with underwear on his head, socks on his hands and his feet in buckets. That may not impress the Dean of Yale.

I’ve heard many women bragging on their child and how brilliant they are (what mom doesn’t think that of their own child?)…it’s always funny when a child contradicts exactly what the mom just bragged about. I usually quietly chuckle (I don’t want to let them know I’m on to them!)

Oh, that is always a funny situation.

Children have such a wonderful way of making their parents look stupid. As soon as we start bragging about them, they show the world that we are completely biased and that they still don’t have things figured out.
Dennis may not be a prodigy, but he sounds wonderfully precocious!

so cute! I just hate that when a mother has to tell me how wonderful her child is. And then comes the dreaded question – I still haven’t found a way to answer it – so how’s your little girl doing?
Ugg. I should think of something precocious. But I can never think of it, and can’t really now either.
oh well. I love’em. that’s what counts right?
