When I had my first child no one else among my friends, cousins, or siblings had had children yet. Plus at the time we were in art school and very poor, so little baby's wardrobe was slim! This time around it was nice to open the old boxes, like you, although they contained only choice pieces that I deemed memorable enough to save even in my teeny New York apartment. Plus, an aunt of mine "adopted" my baby project, and has since been scavenging for sweet deals on used baby clothes in her Maine small town. Once a month she sends a new box with used treasures!

It's so good to have both the variety and surprises that used clothes offer and the knowledge that you're saving the planet a bit by reducing the pesticide usage from new cotton! I'll be sure to keep an eye on your blog Susanna for new ideas on finding more treasures!

You're welcome, Heather!

Even though I was the oldest, I grew up wearing a lot of hand-me-downs, too, and they were some of my favorite clothes - weird 70's stuff from the neighbor kids. :)

We received SO many great hand-me-downs for Ladygug. I'm looking forward to passing them on too. My sister and I always had hand-me-downs. I remember what fun it was to dig thru the bags and try every thing on.

Thanks for sharing, Susanna!

I remember going through the clothing from my older boys, passing them onto my husband's cousin. Then when we expectantly found out we were pregnant with our twin boys, they gave us all the clothes they had left from their son...It amazed me how many of those clothes my older 2 had worn and how I had forgotten about them until I saw them again!
