It’s not quite finished. I have a few tweaks that I need to make and a few things that I need to play with, but for the first time in my bloggy life, I have a designed header here at my digs.
Now there’s a huge story here.
Well, maybe not for you, but for me. It’s big.
Before I went on my trip I was panicking about my blogs and how they weren’t branded and how I needed business cards, etc. Oh it was a dead on tailspin… out of control. I was worried about how I could get two sites branded to look the same and business cards and total redisgns in 4 weeks when I would be out of town and tied up with my own projects.
The amazing part about it is that I have AWESOME friends in the blog world who were READY to make this happen. They were ready to drop everything so that I could get things done.
When I was in Mississippi God and I had a long talk about these blogs-o-mine and I came to the determination that they are blogs. That’s it. They aren’t my sole source of income. I don’t need them to survive. I didn’t start blogging to have followers or make money. I simply needed a place to put pictures and stories for my mother and my friends.
Shoot. I didn’t even know there was a mom blog community out there…. or a personal blog community out there.
After screaming at God to get off my toes… I made the decision that I was going to BlogHer with the blogs that I had. I was going to BlogHer ::Gasp:: unbranded. But that I was going to go and be PROUD of what I’ve created here. I was going to BlogHer as me.
Talk about a HUGE weight lifted. I emailed everyone that was offering to help and told them of my grand aha moment and when I got home, I scrambled to get some business cards made.
The question came up “what do you want?” and honestly, I didn’t know. I kinda knew, but it was bothering me that they weren’t branded these two blogs. Coming from the business world, it was HARD to do it the “wrong way”.
Again, I reminded myself that I was not going to get worked up over blogging and we hammered out the business cards.
When I saw the design for the card, I knew instantly what kind of blog design I wanted. I spent all day Friday mulling it over in my head and I finally determined that it wouldn’t be hard for me to get it turned around because the design had already been done… on the card. As soon as I saw that card, I knew. And I’ve not known what I’ve wanted for 18 months when it comes to this.
Thirty minutes later, I had a blog up on a test site. And this morning, I took it live.
MUCHO MUCHO MUCHO thanks to Karen at Simply Amusing Designs who turned around the cards and the header so quickly… and I love the scribble don’t you? She’s pure genius I tell ya! GEEN-EEE-US!
I think we’ve determined that the scribble is my new trademark. I love it.
I learned alot about me, about my blog, about the people who care about me while I was gone. I also learned that when I let go and let God run the ship, I get more than I ever bargained for.
And seriously? It really is JUST blogging… no body dies.
Until next time…

Love the look, love the scribbles!! Way to change! Glad you and “the big guy” got everything worked out!
That’s cool! So (pardon my stupidity) the names with the designs are the “branding”? I have a ton of different graphics with my name, but just use various ones depending on what I feel like (all created by myself). I guess I’m not quite sure what branding is all about…
I’ll figure this all out at some point!
