We both are from Chicago, but we live in Scottsdale, AZ now. Anytime we bring up Banana Splits are friends look at us like we are crazy. I thought it was a Chicago thing. Glad to hear they are making a come back. My youngest will love them. By the way, the sneakers thing, did you see it on "How it's Made" , my oldest son loves that show and I have seen things that I really didn't care to know How they were made, but I now know.
