The shoemaker makes wonderful shoes yet his children have none on their feet.
The mechanic does amazing work in fine tuning a car, yet he drives a jalopy.
You know this right? The shoemaker and the mechanic (among other trades) are so busy doing for others that their own things are neglected.
Count the web geek into those trades.
I’ve been so busy playing with the code on other blogs that my own was outdated, not working, etc.
Until last night when I decided that I would fix it.
Note to self: please do not think that you can takle a project such as this ever again when you are exhausted.
I tackled it.
And if it could go wrong, it did go wrong.
My sidebars are a little bare. Andy Wibbels would be so proud. But it’s not by choice, it’s because somehow, and I still don’t know how, my sidebars dissappeared. Well, not the sidebars, but the content contained within. I still don’t know what happened to them. So I spent a good portion of the evening tracking down the code that went in the sidebars previously.
I know that I’m missing things, but I figured this was a sign that it was time to purge. I’ll be going through my blogroll soon too because I’ve noticed that there are quite a few deadlinks on there.
But for now, it’s ready to roll, until I have time to do the layout the right way and not copy the theme from Desperately Seeking Reviews and throw it up here.
Yes, another time that I thought I would take a short cut and it would work. I was wrong. I admit it. I should’ve started from scratch and perhaps it would’ve worked out better.
Live and learn, right?
I’m just thankful that these screwups are on MY blog and not those of people who are actually paying me. Much like I’d rather my children be complete terrors at home than at school. Ya know? It’s bound to happen, it’s just better when it’s not involving other people.
I’m rambling again. If we were talking in real life, this is when you would look me square in the eye and tell me that and I would shut up, but since there’s no one here to tell me to stop, I just keep going and going and going.
Just call me the Energeizer Bunny.
But I’ll stop now. I need to go put up that giveaway that I promised Monday.
But one more thing…
Do your kids like the Jonas Brothers? Samara is obsessed with the Jonas Brothers. She asked for two things for her birthday… to get a second hole pierced in her ears and to meet the Jonas Brothers.
Her father told her that she had a better shot at meeting the Jonas Brothers than she did getting her ears pierced again, but sadly, she got neither.
She’s so deprived, I tell you.
Anywho, American Eagle Outfitters has a new line called 77Kids and with the launch of the line, there’s a chance to win a VIP private show with the latest teeny bopper sensations.
You can enter to win on the 77Kids website.
Let me know if you win so that I can make my daughter jealous. ha ha.
I’ll leave you with two questions today… (1) is there anything that you do well for everyone else yet neglect for yourself and (2) are the Jonas Brothers all your child(ren) talk about?
Until next time…

just wanted to let you know that you are back in my google reader today!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh.. and no.. my 4 year old is more obsessed with Donnie than the Jonas Brothers. She’s not serious competion for you, so no worries.
Right now I would say I’m doing the packing of our stuff really well to get ready to move. I’m really sick of packing.
Luckily my boys are boys and they are not into the Jonas Brothers. I’m gonna guess this is a good thing.
1) I’m like you, I do a better job of maintaining my clients’ Web sites than my own, which isn’t good if you think about because they are looking at my site as an example. I need to get on that.
2) Thankfully, Nic is too young to like the Jonas Brothers. I know it’s because I’m getting older, but I don’t get them. I guess they are this generation’s Hanson or, even worse, NKOTB … or as I call them now, The Been Around the Block Kids, cuz they ain’t new anymore!
Yea, I make sure my kids are dressed nice all the time. Yet, I’m always in “comfy pants” and tshirt.
My kids don’t really care for the Jonas Bros. 8yo is more into rock and such (older mom & dad stuff) and my 5yo isn’t really into music yet.
I love the new look – bare side bars and all! It looks lovely :O)
I am really really good at making sure the kids eat well and take their vitamins. Me? not so much. I’ve been known to skip meals and it has been years since I popped a daily vitamin in my mouth. That’s so sad isn’t it?
Good Questions!
Um, I am really good at giving out advice and don’t take 1/2 of it!
And, my 7 year old boy is not into Jonas Brothers, but I remember loving New Kids on the Block, so I understand the obsession.
My daughter does enjoy the Jonas Brothers but is more into Hannah at the moment.
And we will do lunch soon… perhaps when you get back from your trip.
This post reminds me of my “shoemaker” problem- I’m a lawyer and still haven’t written a will. I know everything about them and have written tons for clients, but I keep procastinating on my own.
I do a lot of baking for church, showers, and other events, and not enough for my family. Or at least my kids think I don’t do it enough for them.
And, thankfully, my kids have no idea who the Jonas Brothers are, I think. If they do know, they have not mentioned it to me.
Guess who showed back up in my Google Reader this week, so that I remember to read her blog?
Anna Marie doesn’t really talk about the Jonas Brothers – she’s been more a “Naked Brothers Band” type girl. She does want her ears pierced, though, but it’ll be her first hole. I offered to do it for her birthday, but she wants to earn it by getting good grades – just like I did. Except she’s in first grade, where it’s much easier than when I did it in third grade.
Oh, yeah, my dad’s a mechanic, and we always had to “wait our turn” on the car repairs!
I just read your comment on a post about saying “We can’t afford this” and I totally agree with you! I always talk about our budget with my son, but I don’t like saying that we can’t afford something because it makes him unecesarily worried! I can’t wait to read more of your blog. It looks delightful!
