Before I forget…
Two giveaways end on Friday over at the Review place… or if you can dig around here and find them… Barefoot Books and Magic Pumpkin Art…
Ok, so you know how the boy and I combined have a gaggle of kids, right? And you know how Christmas is only like a month away, right?
These are probably the only four kids on the face of the planet that don’t have a Christmas wish list a mile long. Seriously. When I was a kid, I grabbed the Toys R Us Big Book and the JC Penny and Sears Catalogs and circled and dog eared pages to my heart’s content. The more I asked for the better the chance that I would get something that I wanted.
Nope. Not these kids.
None of them.
So I get the bright idea that we should pile them all in the car, two cars of course, because we can’t all go anywhere together, and take them to Toys R Us and let them roam. I suggest that we follow them and take notes about what they would like or to give us some ideas or something. I only have 25 days to get this all done!
I am WAY far behind. Seriously.
So that’s what we do. We go to Toys R Us and Samara is having a meltdown and the kids are lally-gagging along. Come on guys! It’s Toy R Freakin’ US! What is wrong with you?
Finally, the boys go in one direction and I take the girls, you know, so I can walk aisle by aisle and see pink thrown up everywhere. And why does there need to be so much High School Musical and Hannah Montanna crap? And it’s expensive!
And so the girls go along and stop and stare at everything but I have to pry it out of them if it’s something they would want or not. It’s like they weren’t even interested at the possiblity of having any of this stuff for Christmas.
They’re killing me, I tell you. Killing me.
And of course, his daughter made more noise over the Imaginext 27 tall dinosaur that roars and walks than anything else, followed by the “How to Be a Princess” DVD. Go figure.
Samara? She still wants clothes, an iPod Nano, and a cell phone.
I hate that she’s going to be disappointed Christmas morning.
When we met back up we were in the bike aisle and that’s when all heck broke loose. There were two of them riding around on bikes, one on a scooter and the other running after them. And there we stood, staring at them, almost as if we were pretending they didn’t belong to us.
But we finally roped them all in, after determining what size bikes three of them needed and headed home.
And I still have no good ideas for what to get my children for Christmas… or his for that matter.
So here we go! I’m putting a call out for help!
Ideas?
I’ve got a 12 and 6 year old boy to buy for and a 9 and 4 year old girl.
And the boy. But unless you come up with something amazing that I must get him, I think he’s squared away.
Thoughts?
What are you getting your children? What’s on their must have lists this year?
Help. Please?
Oh and while you’re thinking about it, why don’t you hop on over and check out my review on SHOP.com. Seriously. It’s going to be a lifesaver for me. And maybe you, too!
Until next time…

ok so here is a couple of cheap solutions that I did with my techy loving child…..
Instead of an ipod nano – there is a cheaper option that is so much more user friendly and has an awesome animated dog on it.

It has a million more options and is MUCH cheaper than it’s ipod cousin.
the other is a pay as you go cell phone. if you check the company’s websites they offer refurbished phones for so much cheaper….. and it teaches her responsibility of paying for it herself.
I know what you are going through!! Be strong! Best of luck!!
I can’t believe you did that! I avoid that store like the plague!
For our girls this year? We are ‘adopting’ (sponsoring) a child in a poverty-stricken country. We have brainstormed things that they would like to send to them, and I’m buying them things to make for our new family member. Those craft kits, and wrapping paper and stuff like that will be wrapped under the tree. And I am going to keep who the child is a secret so the big reveal will be on Christmas Day.
I have no idea how this will go over but we’ve talked about it, and I haven’t had too much resistance! I totally plan on little gifts for the girls too to say how much we appreciate them being in our family too. Just little things – pretend makeup for the toddler, design-your-own-fashions book for Haley, and I can’t remember what I had for Emma. Book with CD or something like that.
I’ll have to let you know how this goes…
I rather like this idea for Christmas (actually, all year ’round):

My poor kids are getting the free stuff I got to review on my gift guide. Good thing none of them have their hearts set on something specific!
Have a great day tomorrow!
So far my Christmas shopping consists of a money-counting jar for Anna Marie. That’s it! I’m way far behind too, and having a hard time getting motivated.
How many more days are left again?
For 6 year old boy….LEGOS and Star Wars!! Always have been a hit in my house…that’s what my almost 5 year old wants and is getting. My 18 year old son always LOVED legos and action figures at this age.
For 12 year old boy…this about the age we started buying video games and giving gift cards, for him to shop for himself!
For girls…I’m clueless…I only have 2 girls to shop for and I don’t know what to do…probably gift cards.
HTH….happy shopping!!
