Randomness… including a winner… :D

I love being random.

Random keeps people guessing; keeps them on their toes.

Of course, if you’re the random person, you’re ALWAYS on your toes because you don’t know if you’re coming or going.

That would be me. Of course, this is nothing new… most of you know that I’m always all over the place, but here of late, I seem to be on this roller coaster… up and down and up and down… which is okay, but I’m ready to get off.

The new job will be good for me.  I’ll get to dress up like a grown up everyday and go into an office and actually interact with people and not just screennames.  I pray that I don’t address someone as @kim or something like that.  But you know what?  These people GET social media, so at least they would know what I was talking about.

Kinda cool.

In addition to actually going into an office, I’ll get to get out of this house… it’s something that I didn’t think I needed to do, or wanted to do, but I do.  I WANT TO GET OUT OF THIS HOUSE!!!!

I’ve been working from home full time for going on four years.  It’s time.  It’s past time.

But the best part?  When I leave work?

I LEAVE WORK.  (Except on the days that I leave early to work from home, because I get to do that.  I truly found the best of both worlds… yet, despite the ability to work from home part time, I’m going to work in the office full days as often as I can.  Know why?

Because when I leave work, I LEAVE work.

It’s become very imporant  to me.

Anywho, enough about the job and how excited I am.  I have to finish out my employment at the stations and et them all squared away…

Thursday, I’m going to Montecello and Lexington with the 4th graders.  My mother said tonight that she’d never been to Monticello.

“Really?  I thought I had some huge tempertantrum there?”

“You did.  And I never got in.  You were so bad in the line that we left.  And here we are 30 years later, and I still haven’t been.”

Sorry, Mom.  I’d GLADLY let you take my place Thursday.

******

A, B, & C are doing well, near as we can tell. Apparently, there was a D which we didn’t find out about until Friday, two days after it was born.  I don’t know what happened to it but Sam found D under the dresser.

“Mom, don’t panic, but I told you here were four cats.”

“What?”  I totally paniced.

“Don’t worry.  We took care of it, just like we take care of the mice.”

Sometimes I wonder what I would do without her.  The fact that she cares for newborn kittens, disposes of dead animals in the house, and helps me not look like a mom when I go shopping for clothes totally negates the fact that we butt heads daily.

******

In other cat news, Matthew woke me up in the middle of the night to tell me that we were missing a kitten.  At 3am, I really didn’t care that we were missing a kitten, however, after drifting back off, I dreamed that Rhoda enjoyed a midnight snack.  It wasn’t long after that, Matthew returned to my room to let me know that he found the missing kitten… sorta.

“It’s in my room, but I don’t know where,” he said.  Panic sets in.  A kitten, that might look like a mouse in the middle of the night is fair game for the dog (even though she’s been very protective of mama and babies) was a fear, but the bigger fear came with it being LOST in Matthew’s room… or that someone would step on it.

“Well just grab the box from the bathroom with the other two and take it in your room… Casey will find them.”  These cats are going to have to learn to have issues at another time of day, preferrably when I’m awake.

Around 4:30 this morning, Matthew comes in my room again to let me know that Casey moved the kittens from the box to behind his dresser.  “It was really cool, Mom.  She just grabbed them and off she went.”

Does my child not sleep?

Anywho, when I woke up he was on the couch, already showered and ready to go.

“She moved them again mom, but I don’t know where they are now.” and so for the rest of the day, up until 5 tonight we worried that the dog ate them or that we stepped on them without knowing it… my imagination can get carried away at times…

But we found them, or rather, Matthew did.  They were tucked UNDER the dresser in his room.

Ok, Casey, we get it.  We’ll stop playing with the babies.

I’ve learned that Insta-Dry nail polish sucks.  It might dry quicker but its not as nice and bubbles up and looks like my daughter painted my nails.  But I so love the purple color that I keep attempting to paint them wtih this stupid nail polish.

I did decide that I was going for a pedi and a mni on Saturday to use the gift certificate the boy got me for Christmas.

And because I just stated that outloud and made plans, I will invariably break a nail between now and then.

I’m going to be in another skit at church called, well, I don’t know what it’s called.  I’m Ethel. I’ll be sure to post the video.  The boy is playing the voice of God.  Somehow I never imagined God to sound like he was from Podunk, but I guess it’s possible.

Sometimes random is the way to go… really, it is….

So… tell me something random about you or that happened to you today?

until next time…

Ok, here is my random….I’ve been needing to get my hair cut and colored FOREVER but we really haven’t had the money to do it right so I kept putting it off. Finally we got the money together and I was about to call the hairdresser when she up and sent me an email saying call me and come in, we’ll work on payment later! So I made impromptu hair appointment that I got to attend ALL BY MYSELF! I looked at some pics and said make me look like her!! She said OK, and she proceeded to cut 5 inches off my hair and style it cool like, then she mixed the wrong color! I love it! It’s so different!! I now have a totally different haircut and color! I went home and dh told me I look like a “helmet head”! But who cares I love it and think it looks good!

Random? Well my baby boy (now 14) got accepted into Governor’s School, which I am ecstatic about (just got the call yesterday). And today I get a call from his Spanish teacher that he is not turning in missed assignments and appears to not be trying in that class! Uggh I go from wanting to buy him a new car to wanting to run into him with my car (j/k). Oh well, the joys of motherhood!!!

Oh Heather, I love your randomness! It’s great to “hear” your voice – it’s been a while.
Glad to hear you’re excited about a new job, and that your kittens are OK. Did I ever mention the mouse we had that ate two full litters of babies? Ahh, guess you could have done without that bit of randomness. *grin*

Random….my daughter cleaned her room and said “mom come look” I’ve been asking for that for years. Now today, out of the blue she cleaned it top to bottom. I’m so impressed.
