My Memory Just Plain Sucks…

I need to start writing topics down when I have them.  I always think of something good to write about but by the time I actually get a chance to sit down at the computer and type it out, I’ve forgotten what I wanted to write about…

The sad part about it?

I have a notepad on both my iPod touch and my Blackberry… two things that I NEVER leave home without.

::sigh::

So let’s pull something from the journal from this summer… at least it’s something and counts as a blog post for today… November 22nd… AND… 22 days of blogging straight.

So what if it’s been brainless, mindless and rambling.  The rules didn’t say anything about that.

So here goes…

I spend so much time being the grown-up, the responsible one.  It’s my job to make sure everyone is safe, sticking to the status quo.  It’s often the reason my coolality is overlooked.  But tonight?  While sitting there watching the kids ride their bikes of varying sizes through rain puddles left as a result of today’s down pour, I sat life aside.

Without so much as a warning, or even kicking off my shoes, I stood up, hiked my too-big jeans up and took my 32 year old, out of shape body running for the nearest puddle.  As I neared the puddle I jumped, landing with both feet in, causing a huge splash that hit the one child who only ventured near the edges of the puddles so as to not get wet.

She was not thrilled.  I wiped her down wtih my oversized sweatshirt, the one I was teased for wearing on a mid-June night and then dried her tears.  Within seconds, as I stood there repeatedly jumping until my jeans were soaked to the knee and the weight of the watered down material began to reveal my Elmo underwear, she ventured over to splash on her own.

And for the next 45 minutes the girls and I found every puddle in the parking lot to splash in.

And I?

Was cool.

Even if it was for just a brief moment.

Until next time…
