Apparently, We Have Pissed Mother Nature Off

On the whole, January is a fairly mild month.  We know that I am cold natured.  It’s no secret.

I can handle colder temperatures, but the wind?  Um, not so much.  And the wind here?

Well, let’s just say that I am NOT a small girl… so when the wind picks up and nearly knocks me off my feet?  You know that it’s pretty windy.

(Side Note:  I laugh when the boy tells me that the wind nearly knocked him over because he?  S-K-I-N-N-Y…)

Anywho…

So today, my very warm, toasted sub from Subway?  Not so warm after I walked the two blocks from the restaurant back to the office.

But, back to where I was going with this…

Clearly we have pissed Mother Nature off.

January is not typically a month that I abhor.  Yes, it’s colder than the 80 degree weather that I love however, it’s bearable.  And my heater can keep up with it.

And, to make sure that I am not making this up, I researched it.  Oh yes I did.

Weather Underground is wonderful for that sort of thing….

So today?  The high is supposed to be 30.  That’s okay. Right?

Until the wind kicks in… then it feels like colder than the little wind chill they like to point out.

But here’s the past five years of history on January 6th…

2009 – 51

2008 – 61

2007 – 66

2005 – 40

2004 – 63

And January in general?  One day last January it hit 65 and the year before it was 73 one day.

The average here is 45.

I’m OKAY with 45.

But I posted something about being cold yesterday on Facebook and those people who live in Michigan and the like were laughing at me.  Look, I understand that it is colder in alot of other places, but you know what?  I don’t live there for a reason…

I would never survive.

Which is why I live here.

Where, historically speaking?

The temperatures are not sub-artic.

And the “expert” weather people?  Yeah… they say that it’s not going to warm up until at least the end of the month.  I don’t know if I’ll make it that long.

So, Mother Nature?  I’m not sure what we did to you to deserve the largest December snowfall EVER with 17 inches shortly before Christmas (and more to come tomorrow and Friday) and I surely don’t know what we did to deserve the frigid temperatures that we are experiencing right now, but if you could kindly warm it up?

It would be great… because the beanie that I have to wear to cover my head so that I don’t DIE when I’m out and about walking, or, let’s be real, just getting in my car?

Um….

Yeah, it causes static.

And I don’t like it.

One. Bit.

Until next time…
