It’s Thursday. I’m Feeling Random.

in Dorks R Us, Grins and Giggles, the boy, Time wasting...

So, the boy and I had a bet on who my mother loved more.

I’m pretty sure it’s me, but the background?

I asked my Mom for the NKOTB DVD that’s going to be released next week.  The boy rolled his eyes.  Sure there was no garuntee that I would get it but part of him is/was convinced that based on his reaction that perhaps my mom won’t get it for me because I’ll force him to watch it.

This week, I got “The Money Pit” in the mail from my mom.  One of my FAVORITE movies!! The gift note said something to the effect is that more will come over time.  I’m thinking that Donnie is on his way to my mail box.  The boy?  Still praying she got me something else.

So have you seen the previews for the new John Travolta movie?  Dude is BUFF!!!  Of course, when I mentioned that the boy said, “down girl” and I spun around and said, “When have you EVER seen me drool over a celebrity?”  Of course, Thing 1 pipes up and says, “The New Kids” to which I stated that it had been a long time since I had mentioned Donnie.

And then the who discussion on who my mother loves more came up again.

And I’m still convinced it’s me.

Actually, I think she secretly loves the New Kids.  She took me to their concert like 17 years ago.

This week is class selection time at the middle school.  Both Thing 1 and Thing 2 have their little papers are are lamenting over which electives they will take.  I was pretty sure that Band was going to be on the list along with the journalism class.  He asked me to help him write his letter (you have to get selected) but then decided he didn’t want to apply.

“Why not?” I asked.

“They want to know what experience I have!  I don’t have any!” he yelled.

“Really?  Your mother didn’t work at a TV station the first 10 years of your life?”

We’ll be working on the letter this weekend.

In other news, I’m kinda over the i-have-two-kids-in-middle-school meltdown that I was having a little earlier in the month.  It’s happening.  They are growing up.

But when that selection paper came home, band is not on Thing 1′s list.  Wanna know why?

His teacher selected him to go from Math 7 to Algebra 1, skipping Pre-Algebra all together.  But it’s two periods, eliminating one of his electives. Two days later, Thing 2 brought her paper home and she’s been recommended to Pre-AP Math.

Oh and Thing 1 has been recommended for Pre-AP Science and Pre-AP Civics.

Since I suck at math, and I look at my dad, the walking calculator, I’m led to believe that mad math skillz skip a generation.

And Thing 2 is taking choir.

I have such mathematical musical offspring.

I think that’s all that I’ll say for now.  I’m pretty sure I have chores to do and bills to pay and some other crap.  But I can’t pull myself away from the internet long enough to do something.  I keep looking at the weather reports to see if we really are going to get dumped on tomorrow with 6-9 inches.  Last time it snowed we had no snow boots, gloves, snow pants, etc because Santa was bringing them 4 days later.  However, now we have all of these things but darned if I can remember where I put those snow pants.

****************

And I’ll leave you with this… we’re watching the Money Pit tomorrow.  The boy has never seen it.  I don’t know how he’s survived his whole life without seeing it.  I can quote the whole thing.

Yes, it’s the little things people… the little things…

Until next time…

Only the coolest moms take their kids to see NKOTB. I mean we HAD to see Donnie, Danny, Joey, Jordan, and Jonathon, right?
