(before I go any further, let me say that #rkeunwind was one of my secrets… I posted about that yesterday… so one down, three to go… i promise… soon…but i’m kinda waiting for the green light from others… ::coughmartycough::)
I’m hoping this post comes together as I want it to. It’s so powerful to me, even today. As powerful as when it was first shared with me.
You know, back in the day of the big J man, there were Shepherds. And, as if you don’t know this, Shepherds had herds of sheep. The sheep knew their masters to the proverbial “t”. The sheep knew his voice, his smell, and everything about him. It was not uncommon for several shepherds to congregate their flocks for the night and in the morning, would call for their flock… all of them knowing which shepherd to go with.
I find that insanely amazing.
But, not all the sheep were good listeners. There were some that wanted to do it their own way; ones that didn’t want to listen. They would wander off from the flock and not listen to his master.
When that happened, the shepherd, as horrible as it sounds, would break the sheep’s legs and carry the sheep around his neck. When the shepherd did this, it forced the sheep’s head to rest against it’s master. This act, while it may seem cruel, forced the sheep to really come to know it’s master.
If you think about it, reflect on it, no one goes running to Christ when life is all puppies and rainbows. No one hears about Christ and says, “oh my gosh, my life is so great, and this would make it even better.”
Or maybe they do, I don’t know.
It’s just that every Christian I’ve encountered found Christ a different way….
More often when they were down and out.
So where am I going with this?
Jesus is the Master Shepherd.
We are all sheep in his flock.
And when we stray; when we’re trying to handle life on our own, even though He’s clearly telling us to follow Him, He has no choice but to break our legs.
Because that’s when He carries us.
That’s when He holds us close and we have no choice but to get to know Him…
The way He wants us too.
Until next time…

WOW~
Still love ya….
is all I can say! You never stop amazing me. Oh and I’m really proud of the person who you’ve become!
I’ve “had my legs broken” before. Its not a fun experience by any strech of the imagination but once you listen your legs stop hurting.
If we never had problems, it’s sad to say, many of us would never turn to Him. It’s against our nature to be dependent, even on Him – so sometimes He has to get our attention in rather dramatic ways!
i don’t like having my legs broken
