So I’m okay.
I know you were worried. But don’t be, k?
Things are moving along in the life of Heather. I’ve had battles – some I win and some I lose, but I’m still standing and some times?
I even have a smile on my face. Writing has taken a back seat here of late not because I don’t want to but because I have priorities… Five of them in fact. And a huge project we’ve been working on. And work. And #rkeUnwind… (Which, for an inaugural gathering? Kicked tail! Over 40 people came and we outgrew the space…and got great feedback! Yay for Heather, Josh and Marty!)
But in other news….
After leaving #rkeUnwind, we headed to All County Choir. Thing 2 was amazing. Of course, I couldn’t help but sing along. She had been practicing morning, noon and night for three weeks straight… I learned the songs with her. The 5 of us sat with my ex and his wife. We determined that we are the parents no one else wants to sit by. I might have stood up at the end, my arm and fist in the air going “whoop, whoop”
Maybe.
Following that we went to get out family picture for the church directory. Um yeah.
That was fun.
But the most fun? The sales woman trying to sell me $400 worth of pictures that didn’t even look good… 4 kids who wanted to be anywhere but there…shoved up against one another and forced to look and act like they like one another…
Heh. I joke. The family picture was okay. The picture of the boy and I? Well, let’s just say I wasn’t paying $41 for an 8×10 where he’s not smiling and I my hips are huge. Had they airbrushed my hips back down to a size 8?
Maybe they’d have gotten some of my money.
Maybe.
Thing 1 went to Aquire the Fire Friday and was gone for the weekend (he’s never home any more…always gone gettin’ his Jesus on…). We took the other 3 to the science museum since it was free and out for pizza. Saturday we worked on the house all day while the kids ran and played.
I believe my exact words were “go and play and don’t come back until you’re filthy and tired.” It was 74 degrees. They did as I told them. Which was good. I adore that they want to “help” me…but when I’m up to my eyeballs in bright blue paint?
Um yeah… Hearing cries followed by “I dropped my goldfish in the paint,” doesn’t help matters.
Bless their hearts. At least they want to help, right? Doesn’t that fall along the same lines as “its the thought that counts?”
I thought so.
Sunday we found outselves at church…our church in the morning and Genesis Community Church in the evening. We all loved it. I think we’ll go back next week. I’m a glutton for punishment and enjoy a preacher who smashes my toes.
And their worship music? Rocked. I almost felt as if I were at a concert. And it was amazing.
So see? I’m here.
Just not here.
I’m trying to make the most of what God puts in my path. And trying to enjoy life.
But this week? I’m trying to write a bunch of stuff, do all the other stuff I have to do and hope like crazy the week flies by…because Friday?
Date night.
And if I play my cards right? The boy either takes me for my new favorite dish at Chaba or… He makes me a buffalo ranch chicken salad…and then we curl up on the couch and watch law and order: svu reruns in the quiet.
Because saturday and sunday will be filled with work around the house, more painting and staining and yard work and our last weekend before tee ball and softball starts…
So I plan to enjoy it.
Until next time….

Caught the hint hun. Which ever you would prefer.
Istand corrected. The “suggestion” has been duly noted. :p
Way to use your blog to put a little pressure on!
