I’m Not At BlogHer so…

August 5, 2010 · 19 comments

in blogging, Grins and Giggles, the boy, Time wasting..., Yo!

I’m participating in the BlogHop ’10

Now I’ve been to BlogHer.  I went two years ago, and I’m glad I went.  But it’s not for me.  For many reasons.  But there’s still that pang of jealousy that hits as I see the preparations, the facebook posts, the pictures and hear of the fun.

So rather than spending all that money, and the like, to go to something that I will walk away with going “I don’t belong here” (and that’s just me, personally, it’s a GREAT conference and it’s so right for so many) I’m going to play online.  With others who either (a) don’t belong there either, or (b) couldn’t get there this year.

With that being said, allow me to welcome you to Desperately Seeking Sanity where I work through my faith and salvation and this thing called life with humor.

I’m Heather and I LOVE to talk about 7 things on this little blog o’ mine.

The Big Man is a huge topic around here and not in the “let me save you from the evils of the world and you’re going to rot in hell if you do not accept Him as your Lord and Savior” kind of way.

Nope, not my style.

I talk about Him and how He works in MY life.  And if it stirs you in any way and you feel led to learn more about what He can do for you, I welcome you to contact me, but I will NEVER, and I repeat NEVER shove it down your throat.  Ask Jenn.

I also talk alot about the sanity that I so desperately seek and the lack there of because of…. well life.  It happens.  And how I best deal with it?

Humor.

I call myself a dork around here… a lot.

And then there’s the hubs…. formerly known as “the boy” up until May 16, 2010 (yes, we’re newly weds!) when I took the plunge and decided to commit the rest of my life to him….

(Isn’t he dashing?)

He truly is my knight in shining armor…

and 10x a better husband than I am wife (but I’m working on it…my gosh, do you know how PATIENT he is with me? Poor thing.  I know sometimes he feels like he can’t win!)

So there are three topics that I talk about pretty regularly.  The other four things?

Well, they really are things… I mean, they aren’t, but they are….

Or at least, it’s what we refer to them as….

Collectively, we are known as “the clan”….

Individually?  They are Things 1 through 4….

Thing 1 — 13 year old boy….

Thing 2 — almost 11 (in less than 3 weeks!!) girl

Thing 3 — almost 8 (in just a little over a month!) boy

Thing 4 — almost 6 (omigosh, she’s starting kindergarten this year!) girl

And the center of our lives outside of God…

(Our favorite saying in the house is “Love you less than God….” and oh how each of these children, in their own, individual ways, remind me of the love of Christ.)

So there you have it…

This is me and who I represent… and the life that I lead.  I blog primarily so others don’t feel like they’re alone out there… and because it’s cheaper than therapy… and trust me, I feel like I’ve been through it all…

It’s for the community.  The friendships.  The laughter.  The tears.

I welcome you to subscribe in your favorite reader or sign up for the email updates.  I’m also on Twitter.

And I want to get to know more about you!

So answer me this, if you would be so kind….

What’s one fun fact about you?

So glad to meet you!

Until next time…

Hi! Stopping by from the Hop! I love that you say that you blog so that others feel less alone! I agree, sometimes we need to share what we go through and put it out there so that if someone else is going through something…. The internet is an amazing gift when used in a nice way! Nice to meet you!

Thanks for visiting and for the kind words you left…thank you.

One fun fact about me is that I love fashion. You probably wouldn’t know it by the jeans and T’s I wear, but I love the creation of clothes!

Great BlogHop post! I definitely feel like I learned a lot about you! Also, the first half of your post had me going “hmm, sounds like my post”…we definitely share some similarities in our thinking.

One fun fact about me? Hmm…I own over 90 pairs of shoes. Yep. ;-)

I’m here because your posts make me smile and sometimes, laugh out loud!
Your mention of “I blog so others know feel less alone” reminds me of a quote by CS Lewis: “I read to know I am not alone.”
A fun fact about me: I trip over the flowers in the rug!
May I invite you to visit and post a comment on HERE
I am always interested in your thoughts.

I’m stopping by from the blog hop and I wanted to let you know how much I admire how open you are about your faith – no apologies, but you’re also respectful at the same time!

I’m here from the Hop too. Did your husband actually sweep you away on a white horse??!!

Fun fact about me? I bored my readers last summer blogging nonstop about my pool!

Love what you had to say here! Congrats on your recent wedding! :)

Fun fact about me? When I was 13 I raised a steer for my 4-H project.

One fun fact about me is I am also, a big GIANT dork! Full of random useless knowledge. I ask way too many questions when the cable man, exterminator, contractor or anyone else comes to the house. I just honestly, want to know what they are doing and how it works. I ask the “Big Man” a lot of questions too, but he rarely answers them in the way I’d expect.

Random, random, random… let’s see, I don’t like watermelon but the rest of my family loves it. And, they are all (expect my napping toddler) enjoying some right now.

Desperately seeking sanity sounds like me. I love the title and the mission of it. :)

Also, you said “blog o’ mine”, which is what I titled my blog hop post. Hop here to read it: This Blog O’ Mine

I love your blog, but got behind so I’m trying to catch up.

Fun Fact: I have a great sense of direction and always find excellent parking places, even when other people have to park really far away, I manage to get a prime location.

Just HOPPIN by,
Love your blog, I thought it was cute to have your husband at wedding on the horse. That is priceless :)
